VoiceOfUS Privacy Policy

Privacy-first civic preparation

VoiceOfUS is designed for user-controlled civic review and export. The app does not send messages automatically, does not sell personal data, and does not use advertising trackers.

Information You Provide

You may provide a civic concern, voice recording, transcript, residential or voter-address context, editable letter fields, and optional contact details for your exported documents.

You may also choose an access option, including paid Apple In-App Purchase access or a voluntary free civic access request.

How Information Is Collected

Information is collected only when you type it into the app, record it after using the voice controls, enter an address or letter field, choose an access option, restore an Apple purchase, request free civic access, or contact support.

VoiceOfUS does not listen in the background, does not transcribe silently, and does not collect hidden advertising or tracking identifiers.

How VoiceOfUS Uses Information

OpenAI Processing

VoiceOfUS uses OpenAI through the VoiceOfUS backend proxy for optional AI assistance. Before the app sends personal information to OpenAI, VoiceOfUS explains what will be shared, identifies OpenAI as the AI provider, and asks for your permission in the app.

If you allow AI assistance and choose an AI feature, VoiceOfUS may send the following information to OpenAI through the VoiceOfUS backend proxy: typed or recorded civic concern text, voice recording audio for transcription, editable draft text for AI readback, and address context plus representative information for recommended representative selection.

VoiceOfUS shares AI feature inputs with OpenAI only to provide the AI feature you request. VoiceOfUS does not authorize OpenAI to contact representatives, send messages, sell your data, or use your information for advertising. VoiceOfUS shares personal data only with service providers that are required to maintain privacy protections at least as protective as this policy for the data they process for VoiceOfUS.

Voice responses are AI-generated and not a human representative.

Representative And Address Information

VoiceOfUS uses address context you enter to help identify relevant federal and state representative information where provider data is available. Local officeholder information may be marked pending when provider data is unavailable. VoiceOfUS does not claim complete local-office coverage.

Purchases

Paid access is handled through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple may process purchase and subscription information under Apple's own terms and privacy practices. VoiceOfUS uses purchase status to enable access inside the app.

Free Civic Access Requests

Free civic access requests are voluntary. They help VoiceOfUS measure interest in civic-ID supported access. A request does not mean VoiceOfUS has verified voter registration, civic eligibility, or any government record. VoiceOfUS does not claim any government partnership.

Local Storage, Export, And Deletion

VoiceOfUS stores local cases on your device. Exports are created only when you choose to export. You control whether to save, print, share, or personally send exported materials outside the app.

You can delete individual cases or reset local review data in the app. If you contact support, we may use the information you provide in that support request to help resolve the issue.

No Tracking Or Sale Of Data

VoiceOfUS does not use advertising trackers, does not sell personal data, and does not build a general citizen database.

No Automatic Sending

VoiceOfUS is export-first. The app does not send messages, emails, calls, texts, or letters to representatives automatically.
